IoPPN London Champion Mission Statement

The IoPPN London Champions’ mission is to support and promote IoPPN based engagement and outreach activities with local communities and in London more widely.

Specifically, we aim to:

1.       Promote and support a range of outreach activities with young people,           with a particular focus on education and career aspiration, mental                   wellbeing promotion, and science engagement;

2.       Promote and support a range of public engagement activities, with a               particular focus on encouraging dialogue with local communities;

3.       Increase the visibility of mental health research conducted at the                     IoPPN that is most relevant to London communities.

A wealth of resources to support high quality engagement can be found on the National Co-ordinating Centre for Public Engagement website. You can also learn more about how King’s researchers are engaging communities here.

Reporting your public engagement event

IoPPN Youth Awards

The IoPPN Youth Awards ran over the summer of 2017. The Awards aim to encourage young people (aged 15-18) from schools in the local area to stay in science and maths education. The awards consist of providing a work experience placement for 29 winners which see them spend several days integrated into a research team at the IoPPN. They also receive ongoing mentoring following the placement and a book token to aid towards their studies.

The awards will be opening again in Autumn 2017 for Summer 2018.
