'Going Digital' - Lync Study
The LYNC study, led by researchers at the University of Warwick and King’s College London, aimed to co-produce a digital inclusive theatre performance drawing on academic research about digital communication between young people and healthcare professionals.
The outcome was 'Going Digital', hosted in collaboration with Face Front Inclusive Theatre, which was an online, livestreamed event where the audience of young people and clinicians engaged with each other and the actors on the stage to direct the scenarios being played out on the screen in front of them
The three filmed dramas involved young adults living with depression, type 1 diabetes and sickle cell disease. The performances explored the complexities of health care management for these young people. Afterwards, there was online discussion using via webcam to develop digital communication solutions between participants, actors and researchers and researchers.
The ambition of the Going Digital team is that this project, underpinned by the LYNC research and research methods, will begin our journey towards transforming the NHS into one that is staffed by digital professionals providing care to digital patients.
