Undergraduates selected to speak at prestigious national conference
The Department of German is delighted to announce that two undergraduate students have been chosen to present papers at the first Cambridge Undergraduate Conference in German Studies.
Joseph Prestwich (final year, BA German with English) and Sona Jalilzadeh Afsahari (first year, BA German and History) were invited to speak following a competitive process, to select examples of outstanding undergraduate work from across the UK on the theme of 'Germany 2015’. Joseph will give a paper examining the translation of German literary texts into English, while Sona’s presentation focuses on the issue of extremism in contemporary Germany.
The conference will take place at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge in February and features Martin Schulz, President of the European Parliament, as its keynote speaker. Further details and the full programme can be found here.
