Reading Proust
This year a new experimental blog project, linked to the final-year module on Proust in the Department of French, gives students and staff the opportunity to share their thoughts on the experience of reading a great monument of European literature, A la recherche du temps perdu. Each participant has their own blog, set up anonymously, on which they can post anything they like in relation to the novel, including more personal thoughts they might not wish to share in class. The blogs are brought together in an RSS feed so that we can all read and comment on each other’s posts. One of the aims is to encourage us all to reflect more on our own reading, its pleasures and pains. So far, blog posts have included memories of a snowy Finnish childhood, a photo of Angela Lansbury in Murder She Wrote and a cook-along-with Proust post on home baked madeleines....
