Biography

Cat Forward has previously researched the health and wellbeing of older women living alone, and the meaning of home to 'well' older adults. She is a registered Occupational Therapist and has worked in the NHS since 2007. She has also carried out research work for the charity Raising Films. Her research interests include the social and physical environments of ageing, gender and ageing, and the relationship between occupation and health, particularly in the case of so-called deviant occupations.

Cat is currently employed as a Research Associate on a project which is aiming to improve access to support for gambling harms and on the Falls in Care Homes National Implementation Study.

She is also on the research team of SUPPORTED: a study of the role of homecare workers in delivering end-of-life care, being led from the University of Hull. And she is co-applicant on a study being led from Queen Mary University of London – Assessing and understanding the potential of assistive technology in people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease to support independence and wellbeing: A mixed-methods study.
