LGBTQ+ adults and the prison system

The LGBTQ+ life courses – health and social care research webinar series now has a YouTube channel

The LGBTQ+ life courses - health and social care research webinar series is co-hosted by HSCWRU at KCL and Primary Care and Population Health, University College London.

Research shows that, on average, the LGBTQ+ community experience poorer health and wellbeing in later life. This is as a result of inequalities which can accumulate throughout the life course. The webinar series aims to bring together those interested in topics relating to life course health and wellbeing for the LGBTQ+ community relevant to health and social care.

The webinar series has so far hosted talks on the importance of the topic, lived experiences of having a partner with dementia, initiatives in care homes, a review of adult social care assessments for LGBTQ+ older adults, the needs and experiences of LGBTQ+ prisoners (the latest event, which drew 40 attendees) and thinking about the needs of trans+ patients.

A new YouTube channel brings together the recordings of these webinars for those unable to attend.
