LGBTQ+ and Health in Research event
Multidisciplinary event celebrating King's research on the topic of LGBTQ+ and health
The 23rd May saw an event hosted by IoPPN, FoLSM, SSPP, NMPC and DPSoL to celebrate the research being undertaken at King’s on the topic of LGBTQ+ and health. The event was an opportunity for staff and students to share the excellent work they have done, with lots of time for networking and discussion. LGBTQ+ health and wellbeing are recognised as being poorer than that of the general population but the mechanisms and impact of this have yet to be fully understood. The event showed the diversity of research relevant to this topic, with the multidisciplinary nature of the event being key to its success.
There were 66 participants across the day across in-person and online attendees with 15 speakers and 5 poster presentations. The organisers hope that attendees found the event useful and inspiring, to fuel future research.
Anyone interested in LGBTQ+ health and social care across the life course, may be interested in the HSCWRU co-hosted webinar series on the same theme. Contact catherine.forward@kcl.ac.uk to be added to the mailing list or for more info.
