Biography

Michael joined the Department of Political Economy in January 2018. His doctoral research focuses on the substantive representation of ethnic minorities in Britain by ethnic minority Members of Parliament following the 2017 General Election. Michael holds a BSc (Hons) in Sociology from the University of Surrey and an MSc in Democracy and Comparative Politics from University College London (UCL).

Michael is passionate about discussing his research beyond the academy, as such, his writing has featured in outlets like The Independent, Tribune Magazine, and The Conversation. He has also appeared on the BBC, ITV News and LBC to discuss his research. Finally, Michael co-hosts the podcast ‘Politics JaM’ which takes an in-depth look at the news through a political science lens.
