Demystifying Impact 2024
IoPPN researchers and NHS Trusts staff discussed the effect and importance of partnerships and collaborations at this year's annual Demystifying Impact event on Wednesday 12 June 2024.
The event showcased case studies of partnerships between IoPPN researchers and NHS Trusts colleagues. The event commenced with a welcome by Professor Matthew Hotopf (Executive Dean) and followed by a discussion on IoPPN and South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust between Dr Katie Richards (Research Associate, King’s Improvement Science) and Professor Sally Marlow (IoPPN Associate Dean of Impact).

The event continued with Dr Ndabezinhle Mazibuko (Clinical Research Fellow) sharing his experience of partnering with King's Health Partners and by Dr Rebecca Rhead (Lecturer) and Rupa Bundhia (Project Manager) discussing the projects TIDES and NHS Check as examples of partnership with NHS Trusts.
Presentations concluded with Sarah Holloway discussed the King’s Maudsley Partnership and Professor Chris Shaw discussed health innovation partnership that led to him co-founding Aviadobio.
The event also paid homage to the research projects and teams that constituted King’s REF2021 submission. Posters sharing details and recent updates were displayed around the rooms during the intermission, inviting attendees to learn more about the projects.
The second part of the afternoon saw a panel discussion facilitated by Dr Sian Oram. Panel members included Professor Chris Shaw (Professor of Neurology), Sarah Holloway (Pears Maudsley Director), Dale Batham (Senior R&D Governance Facilitator), Carrie-Ann Black (Head of Nursing for Research and Quality, South London and Maudsley) and Dr Amy Hardy (Senior Lecturer in Clinical Psychology).
Professor Sally Marlow closed the evening by highlighting the importance of communication and reciprocity in partnerships. She also invited IoPPN community to liaise with the IoPPN Research Impact Lead Laura Yoshimoto-Turpin for research impact advice.
