Digital Twins for Healthcare

Empowering healthcare with data and technology: Digital Twins for precision medicine

About Us

The Research Department of Digital Twins for Healthcare brings together multidisciplinary expertise from the fields of engineering, imaging, and medical sciences. Our goal is to drive the development of digital health technologies to revolutionise how we understand and treat complex diseases, such as cardiac arrhythmias, blood disorders, cardiomyopathies, diseases of the autonomic nervous system, and protein and insulin imbalances.

We are located in St Thomas’ Hospital, one of the largest research and teaching hospitals in the UK, and interact closely with other Research Departments also within the School of Biomedical Engineering & Imaging Sciences here at King’s College London. Our collaborative approach is focussed on building technology to improve patient care and outcomes on a global scale. By fostering strong partnerships between clinicians, researchers, technologists, and communities, as well as strong industrial collaborations, our Department provides a dynamic environment where groundbreaking ideas can flourish and translate into real-world solutions.

Research Specialisms

Our Department specialises in core areas in which breakthroughs are dependent on innovation for better diagnosis and treatment. Our specialisms are:

  • Data-driven modelling and machine learning
  • Multiscale, multiphysics modelling
  • Medical image processing and analysis
  • Precision modelling of disease pathophysiology and intervention
  • Computational anatomy
  • Body signal processing and analysis
  • Healthcare apps and wearables
  • Synthetic biology
