Dr Vishwesh Kulkarni received PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California (Los Angeles, CA) in 2001. During 2001-05, he was a post-doctoral researcher at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Cambridge, MA) and the University of Colorado, Boulder (Boulder, CO). He was an Assistant Professor at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (Mumbai, India) during 2006-10, and a Research Associate Professor at the University of Minnesota (Minneapolis, MN) during 2011-14. He was an Assistant Professor at the University of Warwick during 2015-2022. He has been a Visiting Professor at the University of New South Wales (Sydney, Australia), National Taiwan University (Taipei, Taiwan), and the Institute of Systems & Synthetic Biology (Evry, France).

His main research interests are in the areas of Computational Biology, Machine Learning, Systems and Synthetic Biology, Mathematical Programming, and Nonlinear Systems Analysis and Control. He has published 2 edited books, over 40 journal papers, over 100 conference papers, and has co-authored 2 SBOL standards.
