Pharmacy

Students on the MPharm programme have the opportunity to study abroad for the first semester of their fourth and final year at one of several destinations. However, unlike most study abroad students who take a selection of taught modules much as they would do at King's, MPharm students complete a final year research project with a relevant academic or group of academics at the partner. The nature of the research project means the Study Abroad Tutor for the MPharm programme, Dr Igor Vivanco (igor.vivanco@kcl.ac.uk) is involved with working with students to attain the right placement, but it is down to individual students to research where is appropriate for their interests/requirements and investigate with the relevant Principle Investigator (PI). Students apply in the third year to study abroad in their fourth year, usually in the February, and will be contacted by Pharmacy / Global Mobility when their application window opens. Please note that although no tuition fees are payable to the host institution, they may charge bench fees.

Universidade de Sao Paulo

For students doing their research projects at the University of Sao Paulo: Students with EU passports issued in the UK (and some other EU countries, but not all) do not require a visa to study in Brazil for up to 90 days. If students stay longer than 90 days though, they must register on the 'Special Topics for Foreign Student' course at USP. These topics can be anything from seminars to Portuguese classes. Registering on this course will allow students to qualify for a student status visa for Brazil.
