Biography
Jón is the chairman and co-founder of Monerium and former chairman of the supervisory board of the Icelandic Central Bank. In addition to co-founding four software companies, Jón has also served as an adjunct professor at Reykjavik University, as a lecturer at the University of Iceland in the economics and engineering departments and as a visiting scholar at Columbia University in New York.
Jón was appointed by members of parliament to serve on the Icelandic Central Bank’s supervisory board, holding positions as both vice chairman and chairman from 2013 to 2017. In 2016, he co-founded the fintech company Monerium Ltd., offering e-money on blockchains.
Between 2004 and 2008 he was the CEO of Klak Innovation Center where he initiated Seed Forum Iceland and subsequently managed Seed Forum USA, operating in New York, Minneapolis, and Palo Alto. He holds a Ph.D. degree in Economics and a master's degree in Engineering. Jón is a contributor to Forbes.
