Biography
Dr Anna Brinkman studied at Columbia University as an undergraduate and as a graduate at King's College London. After being awarded her doctorate she conducted post-doctoral research at the University of Warwick. Anna joined the Defence Studies Department in 2020.
Research Interests
- History of strategic thinking (especially maritime) in the 18th and 19th centuries.
- International law, particularly as it relates to neutrality, strategy, and warfare
- The changing character of war
Her current research projects focus on the development of strategic thinking and international law during the Seven Years' War. She is also working on a project on women as strategic thinking and the informal networks that fostered strategic thinking in the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
