Biography

Alexey V. Krasavin received his BSc (hons) and MSc (hons) degrees from Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. He received his PhD in Physics from the University of Southampton in 2006, after which he joined Queen’s University Belfast as a Research Fellow. Alexey joined King's in 2010, and in 2016 took on the role of Editorial Board Member in Scientific Reports.

 

Research Interests

  • Optical metamaterials and metasurfaces, their applications in imaging, sensing, nonlinear optics and emission control
  • Integrated nanophotonics, nanoscale waveguides, modulators and lasers
  • Linear and nonlinear optical properties of metallic nano-objects, taking into account nonlocality and quantum size effects
  • Complex light beams and their interaction with nanoparticles and metamaterials
    novel optical materials and their applications for active control of light
