Teaching Python Programming with Strype

Macadam Building, Strand Campus, London

25NovComputer with code on the monitor and a printout of the code in front of it

This workshop provides an introduction to teaching Python programming in UK schools using the Strype programming environment. The workshop is for teachers who are currently teaching Python programming, or wishing to find out how to approach this task.

Strype is a new frame-based Python programming environment running in a web browser and is available at strype.org. Frame-based systems provide easier code entry and manipulation than standard text-based systems, thus aiding learners in progression and avoiding frustrations.

This workshop will introduce frame-based editing and the Strype system. It will also provide pedagogical discussion and programming examples, which can be used directly in the classroom.
