Understanding Adherence to Weekly Growth Hormone Treatment Study

Here in CARE, we’re currently running a research project which will look at the new weekly growth hormone injection (rhGH) for children with Growth Hormone Deficiency (GHD). This treatment became available in the UK from 2024 and is an alternative to the daily injection that children and young people have previously been using to treat GHD.

The purpose of the project is to explore how well this new weekly treatment is taken and any reasons why it is not taken as prescribed and agreed with the doctor. The aim of the study is to better understand any barriers to taking this new treatment and any parts that are positive about the new weekly treatment.

We’re hoping the results of this study will give us a better understanding of this new treatment for GHD, and that this knowledge can be used to better support patients, an ambition that is at the heart of all the projects we undertake in CARE.

Currently, we’re working with 10 NHS Partners across the UK to recruit children and their caregivers to take part in this research. We’ll also be speaking to those living with or affected by Growth Hormone Deficiency to help shape our research as we go along. If this sounds of interest to you, and you’d like to have your say please get in touch!
