This European Studies (German Pathway) BA will teach you all about the history and politics of Europe and equip you with the language skills to truly understand the German perspective. You’ll spend a year studying in German at a Berlin university and graduate as both a German speaker and an expert in European Studies.
“I particularly liked being surrounded by students and lecturers from all around Europe. I also really enjoyed the relatively small number of students in lectures and seminars, and the fact that everyone knew each other.”
As a European Studies (German Pathway) BA graduate, you’ll possess a level of language skills and an understanding of culture that is sufficient for a German-speaking role. In fact, some graduates have completed placements in media companies within Europe.
You’ll also develop analytical and presentational skills that employers value, and can be applied to a number of roles.
Previous European Studies BA graduates have worked with the Foreign Office, with lobbying firms at the European Commission, in public and private agencies and think tanks, and with leading financial institutions. Many students have also undertaken work placements in the media, working for the French Newspaper Liberation, the Franco-German TV station Arte and Radio-France International. Some have worked as far afield as Bosnia and Japan.
Recent European Studies (German Pathway) BA graduates have found employment within the following job roles and companies:
