In partnership with The University of Melbourne (ranked top law school in Australia), the 4-year programme offers students the opportunity to learn both the English and Australian legal systems and to gain two degrees: A LLB qualification in English Law and Australian Law and a Juris Doctor from Melbourne Law School. Students spend year 1 & 2 at King’s and years 3 & 4 at Melbourne. The programme provides a challenging bi-juridical education and is designed for students who seek to practice Law in England or Wales and wish to obtain an in-depth knowledge of Australian Law, or equally, those who are looking to practice in Australia and the ASPAC region.

Key benefits

  • Intense study of two legal systems that are complementary, resulting in two degrees from two top global law schools.
  • Opportunity to focus on employability with exposure to real-world scenarios through mooting, the King’s Legal Clinic, Melbourne Law School Clinics (for example Indigenous Legal Advocacy and Sustainability Business Clinics) and professional skills development.
  • Develops insights and understanding of European Law at King’s and Law in Asia at Melbourne including experiential optional modules.
  • Direct access to the JD programme at Melbourne which would normally require a completed first degree.
  • Teaching by internationally respected, leading academics and visiting lecturers and practitioners from global law firms.
  • A dedicated careers team who provide tailored guidance on how to enter the legal profession.
  • Active student-run societies organising social and career-oriented functions.
