About the Institution
The Utrecht Summer School, founded in 1986 by Utrecht University, is the largest academic summer programme in the Netherlands and is one of the biggest summer schools in Europe. It is characterised by its strong academic courses covering a wide range of subjects. In 1986, Utrecht Summer School started with one course: Dutch Culture and Society. Nowadays, 37 years on, the summer school has developed a broad selection of about 150 courses in many different disciplines.

The Utrecht University Summer School is open to undergraduate, postgraduate taught and postgraduate research students.

Programme dates
There are various dates available from June - August. Dates are dependent on the study area, and courses can run from 4 days to 2 weeks. Check the Utrecht University Summer School course list for more details on the dates and duration of each course.
Application deadlines
Applications for Global Summer Exchange Programme 2024 have now closed. This page will be updated with information on Summer 2025 in due course. Following a successful application, you will be required to apply directly to Utrecht University Summer School by Wednesday 1st May 2024.
What are the costs?
Course fees: These will vary dependent on the course. Housing fee: 200 EUR per week More information on costs will be provided in due course. Students who are successful in their application will receive a tuition-fee waiver, but will be responsible for all other costs, including, flights, visas, accommodation and living expenses.
