About the Institution
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill was founded in 1793 as the first public state university in the young United States. Since then, it has grown into one of the most renowned teaching and research universities in the country and internationally, and ranks highly on a global scale. Chapel Hill is a small college town with roughly 60,000 residents, of which 20,800 are undergraduate students and 12,500 are graduate students. Who can apply?
The University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill 2025 summer programme is open to undergraduate students only. Postgraduate taught and postgraduate research students are excluded from this offer.
Courses offered
Exchange students can take courses in any department within the College of Arts and Sciences, which includes more than 40 academic departments and interdisciplinary curricula. Enrolment will be subject to availability and will be dependent upon students having met any course pre-requisites. A full list of courses can be found below.

Programme dates
There are 2 sessions run by UNC, however, students may only apply for session II and the dates for this are as follows: Session II: Monday 23rd June 2025 - Tuesday 29th July 2025
Application deadlines
If you wish to apply for a place on the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC) Summer Programme, you will need to submit your Global Summer Exchange Application by Sunday 19th January 2025, by 11:59pm If your application is successful, you will be required to apply directly to UNC by Saturday 1st March 2025.
What are the costs?
Student will be responsible for the following costs: Housing, health insurance, meal plan, and $300 Study Abroad admin fee. Students will need to show roughly $8257 for both sessions when submitting their request for Form DS-2019. Students will be required to provide financial support when requesting a Form DS-2019 for both summer sessions plus additional cost for books, etc. The above figure is an indication of the amount that will need to be evidenced. Students who are successful in their application will receive a tuition fee waiver, but will be responsible for all other costs, including, flights, accommodation, visas, health/medical insurance (if compulsory), living expenses and those listed above.

Eligibility
Students should currently be enrolled and in attendance at King's. Students will need to ensure they meet any entry requirement made by UNC; in the past this has entailed maintaining a 3.0 GPA.
Estimated living costs
Actual expenses may vary depending on student lifestyle. The cost of travel to and from the country is not included in these estimates.
