The University of Gothenburg was founded as Göteborgs högskola (Gothenburg University College) in 1891. It is the third-oldest Swedish university, and has approximately 25,000 full-time students. It is amongst the largest universities in the Nordic countries, with eight faculties and 57 departments. Its eight faculties offer training in the Creative Arts, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences, Humanities, Education, Information Technology, Business, Economics and Law, and Health Sciences. The Summer School for Sustainability is a chance to take action on sustainability and deepen your understanding of global challenges and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Join an international cohort of like-minded people for five inspirational weeks and get the chance to visit the beautiful city of Gothenburg.

Who can apply?

The University of Gothenburg Summer School programme is open to undergraduate, postgraduate taught and postgraduate research students.

Courses offered

Students can choose from one of five courses in the areas of education, politics, biology , digitalisation or humanities to deepen your understanding of contemporary sustainability challenges and possibilities.

Programme dates

The University of Gothenburg Summer School will run from Thursday 27th June 2024 - Friday 2nd August 2024.

What are the costs?

Accommodation fees: approximately 4000 SEK Students who are successful in their application will receive a tuition fee waiver, but will be responsible for all other costs, including, flights, visas, living expenses and those listed above.

Accommodation

Off-campus accommodation is guaranteed. Students will stay in self-catered accommodation in one of the University of Gothenburg’s centrally located student housing complexes.
