The MSc Law & Professional Practice is a two-year postgraduate degree, with the first year available as a stand-alone Postgraduate Diploma. It provides a comprehensive and rigorous introduction to law and practice in preparation for the SQE and a legal career as a solicitor or barrister in an evolving and competitive sector. The programme is open to graduates obtaining a higher 2:1 degree classification or above who have not undertaken, nor are currently undertaking, legal education or training which substantially comprises the study of, and/or practice in, the laws of England and Wales.

Application closing date guidance

Applications for our Law and Professional Practice programme will be considered in several recruitment rounds:

  • Applications that are complete (including all necessary documentation and references) by 31st January 2025 will be considered in the first round.
  • Applications that are complete (including all necessary documentation and references) by 2nd April 2025 will be considered in the second round.
  • Any applications incomplete as of 2nd April or received after this date will be reviewed in the final round if places remain.

The final application deadlines for this programme are:

  • Overseas (international) fee status: 25 July 2025 (23:59 UK time)
  • Home fee status: 25 August 2025 (23:59 UK time)

After the first two recruitment rounds:

  • if the programme is not yet full, we will continue to accept applications until all available places are filled up to the final application deadlines above
  • if the programme becomes full before the final application deadlines stated above, we will close the programme to further applications

Please note, you will not be eligible for an application fee refund if you apply after the first application deadline, and we are unable to process further offers because places are filled and we close the course before the final application deadline.
