Adjustments for Examinations and Assessments

We offer Personalised Assessment Arrangements (PAA) to ensure that all students have equal opportunities during assessments. These form part of your King’s Inclusion Plan (KIP) and may include:

  • 25% additional time in unseen examinations for students with specific learning differences, such as dyslexia.
  • Provision of ergonomic equipment to enhance physical comfort during exams.
  • Accessible formats for written instructions.

How to Apply for PAA

To apply for PAA, students must register with the Disability Support & Inclusion team through Student Records. The application should include appropriate supporting evidence, such as a full assessment report for SpLDs or medical documentation for long-term conditions.

Assessment Cover Sheets and Examination Script Stickers

If you have a specific learning difficulty (SpLD) you can apply for a PAA arrangement that will request your written assessments are marked with your SpLD taken into account.

  • Coursework Cover Sheets and Examination Script Stickers are attached to work submitted for assessment marking, to identify that the student has a specific learning difficulty and request that this to be taken into consideration when marking.
  • The cover sheet states that consideration for SpLDs be made with regard to overall structure, grammar, sentence structures and spelling.
  • If you have this PAA approved, the Examinations Team will attach a sticker to your examination script following any examination.

Students with an approved coversheet/exam script sticker can access their coversheet via King's Student Records. The coversheet can be printed and attached to any coursework submissions.

To access the coversheet the student will log into Student Records and go to the ‘Student Home Page’. It is located in the section called ‘My Coursework Coversheet’ where there is a link to the coversheet.

Students can also apply for PAA for a one-off or short-term reason (for example, pregnancy, injury or hospitalisation); these are managed by the central Examination Office.
