The impact of supporting care experienced young people who are seeking employment
We conducted a pilot and feasibility evaluation of the Supporting Care Leavers into Employment (SCLiE) programme run by the Drive Forward Foundation (DFF), which supports care experienced young people (CEYP) who are seeking employment. The study was funded by the Youth Futures Foundation (YFF). In SCLiE, young people work with a mentor who provides tailored support driven by the young person’s interests and needs. Our study found that the programme worked as expected and that there was capacity and appetite from DFF to progress to a full impact study.
We are now working with YFF and DFF on a mobilisation phase to understand how a randomised controlled trial to understand the impact of SCLiE on CEYP outcomes might be most appropriately designed and delivered.
