Service & Research Projects Hub
The Service & Research Projects Hub is a network of students and staff who will work together to co-design projects for dissertations. These projects will tackle priorities identified by local community partners.

Aims of the Service & Research Projects Hub
The Service & Research Projects Hub will bring King’s and the voluntary and community sectors together, with the aim of tackling research questions that will positively impact the outcomes of our local communities.
It aims to contribute to King’s strategic priority of ‘Knowledge with purpose: service & impact’.
Other aims of the hub are to:
- Enhance the research and evaluation skills of King’s students outside of a university setting.
- Work with community and voluntary organisations to identify the impact of projects.
- Work in partnership with our community to deliver on King’s commitment to social impact, and ensure our research is focused on meeting societal needs.
How will we assess the impact of the Service & Research Projects Hub?
To assess the success of the hub, we have planned surveys and interviews to assess:
- Students’ sense of belonging: Measured using the ‘Settling at King’s’ questions.
- Students’ attitudes and behaviours related to service, using the Civic Engagement scale.
- Students’ self-efficacy, using the Generalised Self-Efficacy scale
- The overall experience of doing a research project with a community partner: Assessed through qualitative interviews.
