Military Innovation Network (MIN)
The Military Innovation Network (MIN) is an international network devoted to high-impact multidisciplinary research on military innovation and related topics.
Our goal is to understand change in military organisations from global, multi-theoretical and diverse perspectives. We aim to offer a platform for academics worldwide to discuss and connect on the field.
More than a simple academic network, we also focus on connecting scholars and practitioners to understand the field from a practical perspective and positively impact policy worldwide.
Aims
The Military Innovation Network has three primary objectives:
- To promote discussions on military innovation and related topics through cross-national, interdisciplinary, multi-theoretical and critical perspectives.
- To connect early-career researchers, doctoral researchers, senior academics and practitioners focusing on military innovation studies worldwide.
- To become a central research and practitioner platform on military innovation, defence reform and related topics.
Impact
MIN is devoted to much more than just a research network. Our events and projects are also widely focused on policy and social impact. So far, our international events have involved practitioners and academics from various parts of the world.
For instance, our Doctoral Workshop in 2023 included representatives from more than eight countries, such as Brazil, Sweden, China, the Netherlands, France, Italy and Germany. Similarly, our Seminar on Contemporary Military Innovation featured participants from the UK and the Global South.
Both events brought together representatives from academia and the practitioner community, including senior officials from Ministries of Defence, Defence Colleges, Staff Colleges and other relevant institutions worldwide.
This approach will continue to drive our future efforts. Beyond conferences, we intend to extend this impact-oriented research and network model to new research projects, policy papers and edited volumes in the coming years.
