“kHOPE” (king’s Health Outcomes and Patient-relevant Evidence synthesis) research group
Health outcomes research is essential for advancing patient care and informing healthcare practices. The kHOPE research group addresses this need by bringing together people who are passionate about outcome research. We aim to synthesise available evidence that directly impacts patient health and well-being.
Despite major developments in healthcare, there is still a gap in understanding how interventions affect patient outcomes across different conditions. This gap can result in suboptimal care and not directly address patient needs. The kHOPE research group seeks to fill this void by conducting rigorous research to evaluate and synthesise patient-relevant evidence.
Our group involves a multidisciplinary collaboration of healthcare professionals, researchers, and people with lived experience. We focus on identifying the most critical health outcomes and developing methodologies to assess them accurately. We ensure our findings are relevant and impactful by bringing diverse expertise and engaging patients throughout the research process.
The ultimate goal of the kHOPE research group is to provide evidence that informs healthcare decisions, improves patient outcomes, and enhances the overall quality of care. Through our work, we aim to contribute to a healthcare system that prioritises patient needs and outcomes, fostering better health for all.
Aims
kHOPE aims to improve patient care by synthesising high-quality evidence on health outcomes. Our research will include developing new Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) and Patient-Reported Experience Measures (PREMs), consensus processes for better outcome measurement harmonisation (eg Core Outcome Sets), identifying key patient-relevant outcomes, and creating robust assessment methodologies. We aim to inform healthcare providers and policymakers by providing high-quality evidence. We ensure our findings are relevant and impactful by engaging a multidisciplinary team and involving patients in the research process. Our research group will enhance healthcare practices, inform decision-making, and ultimately lead to better patient health outcomes, contributing to a more effective and patient-centered healthcare system.
