King’s College London Decarbonising European Conference Travel Initiative (IGUANA)

The King’s College London Decarbonising European Conference Travel Initiative (IGUANA) addresses the current financial barriers associated with train travel from London to various destinations across Europe for conference attendance.

Acknowledging the existing high costs, we aim to support individuals by providing funding to make train travel a more feasible and sustainable option. While at the same time our project supports the reduction of King's travel footprint.

We believe in the long-term benefits of train travel, both environmentally and culturally. By offering financial assistance, we hope to inspire individuals to choose train journeys for their conference commutes, recognising the positive impact on the environment and fostering a sense of collective responsibility.

Our initiative is not only about making train travel economically accessible but also about challenging the perception that it is an impractical option due to cost and perceived time commitment. We want to create a platform for individuals to share their experiences, demonstrating that with support, train travel can be a viable and enriching choice that inspires others to follow suit.
