The group investigates molecular basis of complex human diseases. Using genetic and omics approaches, we look at the mechanisms and biomarkers of multimorbidity, aging, and pain syndromes.

The area of special interest is genetics of inverse comorbidity (aka dystropy and diametrical diseases), the situation when diseases rarely or never co-occur, suggesting mechanisms of mutual exclusion for some pathological pathways. Understanding molecular mechanisms of inverse comorbidity may provide novel treatment targets and biomarkers for complex human diseases.
