Launched in 2020, the Race Equity & Inclusive Education Fund (REIEF) has awarded a total of £100,000 per academic year to activity addressing racial inequalities and embedding inclusive education across King’s. REIEF is part of our institutional commitments to the Race Equality Charter Mark. Information on the projects awarded for the 23/24 round can be found below.

A project working with students at the London Classicists of Colour Society to design a module on Black Classicism

Doctoring postgraduate research careers: Black students’ trajectories and experiences
This project aims to undertake collaborative research into the experiences of doctoral students from Black backgrounds at King's.

Student-led research workshops for improving “sense of belonging” in BME students in PhD programmes
This project will focus on improving a sense of belonging for BME students by pairing students in groups to foster relationships

Inclusion, Diversity and Decolonisation in the Modern Language Curriculum
The project examined the language curricula in the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures at King’s through the lens of inclusion and decolonisation. To date, decolonising initiatives in our language programmes have been led by academics. By contrast, this project placed emphasis on student-staff collaboration and allowed our students to share their perspectives and influence future curriculum design in the department and beyond.
