Biography

Wiaam Al-Hasani is a Pre-doctoral Clinical Research Excellence Fellow at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience at King's College London.

Wiaam is a Senior Chemical Pathologist registrar with a deep interest in mental health disorders. Throughout her clinical and laboratory career, she has developed a fascination with the biochemical changes associated with severe mental health disorders and their impact on physical health, particularly cardiometabolic health. In September 2024, she officially joined Professor Oliver Howes’ psychosis studies group to contribute to research projects focusing on diabetes and metabolic syndrome in individuals with schizophrenia. Outside her professional work, Wiaam is a dedicated baker and cook with a strong passion for experimenting with the chemical interactions of various food ingredients.
