Biography

Sara is a registered nurse and teacher with over 30 years of experience in primary and secondary care, specialising in palliative and cancer care nursing. She previously worked as a lecturer practitioner in cancer and palliative care at the Royal Marsden Hospital School (Higher Education) for five years. Before this, she held various roles as a clinical educator, specialist nurse, and within senior clinical, operational, and strategic positions within the NHS and the charity sector, including St Christopher’s Hospice, Marie Curie Cancer Care, and St Catherine’s Hospice.

Sara’s interests encompass palliative care and oncology alongside clinical leadership, global health, and sustainable healthcare. She is committed to education and lifelong learning, having led, designed, delivered, mentored, and coached learners both in the United Kingdom and internationally, in both informal and formal education settings. Since joining Kings in 2020 she has undertaken several roles within the faculty including cohort lead for the BSc Nursing programme, Link lecturer and Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) Lead role.

She has been an active member within the Sustainable Healthcare Quality Improvement (SUSQI) collaborative working group and ongoing project work. Alongside supervising students’ quality improvement projects and dissertations as part of their Postgraduate (PG) programmes and in a voluntary capacity within the King’s Global Health Partnership Programmes. Since completing a Diploma in Tropical Nursing at The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine she has been involved in palliative care teaching through charities based in Africa and global health education for nursing students.
