Biography
Dr El Hoss has obtained a PhD from the University of Paris, and a first post-doctoral experience in the INSERM Unit 1134, Paris, France. She was then awarded a Marie Sklodowska Curie Postdoctoral Research Fellowship for conducting her postdoctoral research in the Red Cell Haematology Laboratory at King’s College London.
In 2024, Dr El Hoss obtained an “Fondation Recherche Médicale” research fellowship to join the laboratory of Professor Olivier Hermine at IMAGINE Institute in Paris. Dr. El Hoss has made important contributions to the understanding of the pathophysiology of sickle cell disease (SCD) and her research has notably evidenced that ineffective erythropoiesis is a hallmark of SCD.
Her research focuses on (i) understanding the molecular mechanisms behind ineffective erythropoiesis, (ii) investigating the role of inflammation on hematopoietic stem cells and the bone marrow niche in SCD, and (iii) investigating SCD pathophysiology during pregnancy.
