Biography
Santiago Alvarez Herrero is a PhD student in the Department of Geography. His main research domain is in the geopolitics and geoeconomics of capital in Latin America, finance and energy transition.
He has contributed to literature on financial geopolitics and oil industry in his book 'Geopolítica financiera y petróleo. Hegemonía estadunidense en México y Argentina', published in Mexico by the FCE in 2019.

Thesis title: 'Financial geopolitics and energy: Fossil fuels dependency and energy transition in Mexico'
The main research line of his PhD involves the current financial trends of fossil fuels dependency and energy transition in Mexico, especially in the region of Baja California.
