Biography
Over an academic career using brain imaging to investigate emotion, language, and memory, my interest has converged on work that can practically help patients. Having worked on studies recruiting individual patients for specialised research imaging, I think the time is right to turn to routine clinical images, available in much greater numbers. With large enough datasets we can now use artificial intelligence algorithms to pick out features in complex data that can inform diagnosis and prognosis. I currently work with Jorge Cardoso's AMIGO group on the Wellcome High-Dimensional Neurology project. This collaboration with UCL aims to produce a suite of software applications to generate useful predictions from routine clinical images, with a focus on stroke.
