Biography
Dr Merry Martyn is a Clinical Trials Statistician affiliated with the King’s Clinical Trials Unit (KCTU) in the Department of Biostatistics & Health Informatics (BHI) at King’s College London. Her primary role is to provide statistical analysis for clinical trials in mental health.
Prior to working at King's, Dr Martyn was an Associate Lecturer at UCL. She taught statistics and data science in the Department of Epidemiology & Public Health and for the online course ‘RADIANCE – Rigorous Teaching in Longitudinal Data Science’.
Dr Martyn also holds a PhD in Medical Statistics from the Medical Research Council Clinical Trials Unit at UCL, where she focused on the impact of phase II design choice in cancer clinical trials. In 2019, she won UCL’s 3 Minute Thesis Competition and was shortlisted for the National 3 Minute Thesis Competition that same year. Additionally, she has a MSc Epidemiology (Biostatistics) from Imperial College London, and a BSc Mathematics & Economics from the University of Liverpool.

Expertise and public engagement
Dr Martyn has been involved in various forms of public engagement, including submitting articles for the National Centre for Research Methods and writing blogs for King's. She has also spoken about clinical trials statistics at Imperial Maths School, Nerd Night London and MathsJam UK Gathering.
