Biography

Marianna is a part-time PhD student, who works full-time as a solicitor in London.

Marianna studied Russian civil law at the Gubkin State University of Oil and Gas (National Research University), where she obtained her first undergraduate degree. At the same time, she read English law at the University of London International Programmes.

She studied the Legal Practice Course coupled with a master’s degree on a part-time basis. Following that, she qualified as solicitor (England & Wales) in 2019 and subsequently enrolled in the part-time PhD in intellectual property law at King’s College London.

PhD Thesis

Marianna's research is provisionally titled "Fair remuneration of literary authors in the United Kingdom".

The research proposes to look into fair remuneration of literary authors in the context of the "principle of appropriate and proportionate remuneration" under Article 18 of the Directive on Copyright in the Digital Single Market (DSMD). The thesis will also consider the relationship between Article 18 and Articles 19-23 (the so-called "transparency triangle").
