Biography

Laura J. Spence is Professor of Business Ethics & Sustainability. A Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences, she is a member of the Centre for Sustainable Business at King’s Business School. She is an expert on the social and ethical aspects of business in relation to global challenges such as social injustice, climate change, and inequalities.

Laura uses organization, social and ethical theory in her work, favouring critical perspectives. Her empirical studies tend to reach beyond standard corporate perspectives, to include small and medium sized enterprises, supply chains, and the global south. She prefers to work across disciplines and has published in journals such as Accounting Organisations and Society, British Journal of Management, Business Ethics Quarterly, Human Relations, Journal of Management, Journal of Management Studies, and Organisation Studies.

Professor Spence is a Consulting Editor of the Journal of Business Ethics, and co-author of the market-leading textbook Business Ethics (Oxford University Press). At the University of Oxford Laura is an International Research Fellow at the Centre for Corporate Reputation and Visiting Fellow at Kellogg College.

Professor Spence is currently accepting PhD students.
