Kealan Forristal
NIHR Pre-Doctoral Research Fellow
Biography
Kealan joined King's College London in September 2024 as an NIHR Pre-Doctoral Research Fellow. He is pursuing an MSc in Applied Statistical Modelling and Health Informatics, specialising in longitudinal modelling methods.
His research examines the relationships between cardiovascular disease and mental health conditions throughout the lifespan. His project uses population data from British birth cohort studies to investigate the time-varying and causal nature of these relationships.
Kealan graduated from Maastricht University in 2022 with a Research Master's degree in Cognitive and Clinical Neuroscience. During this programme, he spent eight months as a visiting researcher at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, studying psychosocial outcomes following subarachnoid haemorrhage.
Prior to joining King's, Kealan worked as a Research Assistant on the NIHR-funded ENHANCE study at University College London. In this role, he co-developed a multi-domain app intervention aimed at preventing dementia in underserved groups in the UK. Kealan is passionate about leveraging statistical modelling to improve public health outcomes.
