Biography
Kay supports the Postgraduate Research (PGR) and Early Career Researcher (ECR) community within the School of Global Affairs, ensuring a high-quality experience for students and staff. Her key responsibilities include:
Postgraduate Research Programme Administration:
- First point of contact for PGR student and academic enquiries
- Oversee student lifecycle activities, including inductions, upgrade, transfer to pending submission and viva meetings, in collaboration with Departmental PGR Leads and in line with academic regulations
- Manage budgets for studentships and student experience funds
- Organise wellbeing and engagement activities for PGR students
- Work with Room Managers to manage space allocations
- Service PARC (Postgraduate Research Committee) meetings, including setting agendas with the PGR Lead, organising meetings, and recording minutes
Early Career Researcher Support:
- Facilitate representation on Faculty ECR committees
- Provide guidance on HR processes, including onboarding, probation, mentoring, and career development
- Collaborate with Faculty and University teams to promote research culture and disseminate opportunities
