Biography
I joined King’s in 2022. I have a PhD in Ancient Greek and Anatolian languages from UCL. In Spring 2026, I will hold an ANAMED Postdoctoral Fellowship, Koç University, Istanbul, ‘Authority and anonymity in early Hittite texts: law, language and power’.
Research Interests and PhD supervision
- Historical Sociolinguistics
- Hittite
- Ancient Greek
- Digital Humanities
I am a historical sociolinguist working on Hittite (and the other languages of ancient Anatolia) and Ancient Greek. My research includes both the history of the languages themselves and the history of ideas about language. I am also interested in digital approaches to historical linguistics.

Teaching
I primarily teach ancient languages, especially at beginners level, including Ancient Greek, Latin and Hittite. I also regularly contribute to SunoikisisDC[link], an international consortium of digital classics programmes, and teach Digital Classics as part of the London Intercollegiate MA programmes. I am keen to promote the teaching of less-commonly taught ancient languages (i.e. those other than Ancient Greek and Latin) in the UK and internationally.
Expertise and public engagement
I appeared on the Aegean Connections podcast in August 2025.
I am a member of the #WCCWiki project.
