Biography
I am a PhD student in Medieval German Literature writing my doctoral thesis on objects in the sacred and secular context of the 12th century, supervised by Dr Sarah Bowden (KCL) and Dr Alice Hazard. Before coming to King's, I completed a MPhil in Medieval Studies and German Language and Culture at University of Cologne.
Research Interests and PhD Supervision
- 11th- and 12th-century literary and manuscript culture
- Middle High German epic and romance
- Contemporary Medieval
- the Anthropocene
- Trans- and Posthumanism
My current research focuses on the relational triangle of the human, the divine, and things in 12th-century texts, with a particular interest in German epic and courtly literature. I seek to interrogate how narrative texts decenter the human, how this decentering allows for new perspectives on the manifestations of the divine, and how it questions the categories of 'religious' and 'secular' within literary cultures.
