Biography
Database Manager, MRC SGDP Centre, The Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN).
I work within the BRC for Mental and Neurological Health and work on multiple large data projects, bridging clinical and bioinformatics. I contribute to joint strategic priorities of the BRC Clinical and Population Informatics and BioResource themes and to work alongside study teams, biologists, statisticians and clinicians. I lead on the development, deployment and maintenance of clinical and biological databases so that optimal use is made of the clinical data management system in a planned fashion. I develop and manage standardised procedures that improve the quality and practice of data management in the hosting Departments and BRC themes. I ensure that the data we store is secure and backed up in timely manner. I carry out data checking and audits within databases and data manipulation where necessary. I complete and manage testing of database and edit checks.
I am qualified with a BSc in Mathematics from the Open University, and a Higher National Certificate in Computer Studies. I also have experience of laboratory working in Clinical Chemistry and with LIMS IT systems.
