Dr Federica Ferrentino

Nikon Imaging Centre, Deputy Manager (Interim)

Biography

Federica earned her BSc (2014) and MSc (2016) degrees in Molecular and Cell Biology from the University of Rome Tor Vergata. Following her studies, she was awarded a prestigious postgraduate fellowship in 2016, which laid the foundation for her career in molecular biology research.

In 2018, Federica began her PhD at King’s College London, where she focused on understanding how lipidomic changes influence the structure and function of the endoplasmic reticulum (ER). Her research combined advanced imaging techniques with biochemical and molecular biology approaches, contributing to the understanding of cellular processes in health and disease.

After completing her PhD, Federica undertook a one-year postdoctoral fellowship at King’s College London, further strengthening her expertise in microscopy and imaging analysis. In 2025, she joined the Nikon Imaging Centre as Deputy Manager, where she applies her extensive experience in advanced microscopy and imaging technologies to support cutting-edge research.
