Biography

Dr Emma Chung (Senior Lecturer in Clinical Ultrasound Education) is Academic Programme Director for the course and is responsible for organising our core academic teaching. Emma is a HCPC-registered Clinical Scientist with over 15 years of experience working as a clinical academic based within the NHS. She is an Institute of Physics in Engineering and Medicine (IPEM) representative to the Consortium for Accreditation of Sonographic Education (CASE). Emma has also previously held professional roles, such as Editor-in-Chief of the journal Ultrasound and Chair of the British Medical Ultrasound Society (BMUS) Annual Scientific Meeting. Emma’s academic qualifications include a First-Class Master of Physics (Hons) degree from the University of Kent, a Pg Dip in Medical Statistics from the University of Leicester, and a PhD in Applied Physics from the University of Warwick. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and Institute of Physics (FInstP). She is also Editor of a textbook: Practical Medical Physics: a guide to the work of hospital Clinical Scientists. In 2020, Emma was highly commended for her research in the 2020 NHS England Chief Scientific Officer awards. emma.chung@kcl.ac.uk
