Biography
Emeka Chukwusa is a Research Fellow in Biostatistics at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience. His research to date focuses on using large-scale, routinely collected, structured, and unstructured health datasets from electronic health records (CPRD, HES, ONS death registry, KERRI) to understand the variations and factors associated with health outcomes. In his current role, he will be working on the Extreme Heat and Mental Health project. This project uses data from CRIS linked with environmental data (including pollution and temperature) to examine the impacts of extreme heat events on mental health in urban populations, using London as a case study.
Emeka joined King’s College in 2016, working at the Cicely Saunders Institute of Palliative Care. My areas of expertise are biostatistics, epidemiology, big data, health service research, palliative care and geographic information science (GIS). He has a PhD from the University of Leicester.

Research
Big & Routine Data-Based Palliative & End of Life Care Research
The big data research projects include a range of research studies using large-scale routinely collected datasets to explore various end-of-life outcomes.
Project status: Ongoing
Centre for Implementation Science
The Centre for Implementation Science is home to a team of expert implementation and improvement science researchers, including health economists and statisticians. This team are investigating how best to help ‘implement’ evidence-based practice and clinical research within health services nationally and internationally.
