Diana Sousa
Lecturer in Social Science Education
Biography
Diana is an educator, scholar, and Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She holds a PhD in Education and Democracy from the UCL Institute of Education. Her doctoral work, which combined historical and political dimensions with pedagogical practice, was nominated for an international Outstanding Dissertation Award. She also holds an MA in Comparative Education from the Institute of Education, University of London, and a BA in Early Childhood Education from Lisbon’s Superior School for Education.
Before joining King’s College, Diana has worked as a Programme Leader and Senior Teaching Fellow at the Institute of Education (IOE), University College London; a Senior Lecturer in Education at the University of Winchester; and an educator in early childhood education settings.
Diana’s research critically examines global education systems, policies, and pedagogies, with a particular focus on dominant discourses and the role of democracy in education
Outside of her professional life, Diana plays the saxophone and enjoys dancing the blues.
