Biography
Professor Cynthia Andoniadou established her research group at KCL in 2013, after carrying out her doctoral research at the MRC National Institute for Medical Research and her postdoctoral research at the Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health, UCL.
Her discovery research programme focuses on endocrine stem cells, in particular stem cells of the pituitary and adrenal glands, and combines molecular, -omic and genetic approaches to investigate their roles during development, homeostasis and disease, leading to the generation of new disease models and new regenerative approaches.
Professor Andoniadou is an active member of the endocrine and developmental biology communities, currently serving as an Executive Committee member for the European Society for Endocrinology, and Congress Committee Chair for the European Congress of Endocrinology. She is a co-founder of the European Women in Endocrinology (EUWIN) network and is the past recipient of a Starling Medal (2022) awarded by the Society for Endocrinology, and a Lister Institute Research Prize (2016).
Research

Centre for Craniofacial & Regenerative Biology
Our research goes beyond the mouth. If we understand how the entire face and head forms, we can repair damage and regenerate cells. If we unravel the causes of diseases, we can treat patients successfully. If we solve these problems, our discoveries will improve health worldwide.

From Developmental Biology to Regenerative Medicine
Understanding organ development and tissue regeneration provides a framework for elucidating disease mechanisms as well as for developing new therapeutics.
