Biography

Celia Gonzalez obtained a BSc in Applied Biomedical Science from Glasgow Caledonian University, where she undertook a 6-month placement in the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Haematology and Transfusion laboratory. Following this, she completed an MRes in Biomedical Research at Imperial College London.

Currently Celia is pursuing a Cancer Research UK funded PhD collaborative project with Professor Mahvash Tavassoli at King's and Dr Adrian Biddle at the Queen Mary University London QMUL. This project is focused on investigating the hypoxia tolerance mechanisms in Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma and the impact in radiotherapy effectiveness. During the 4-year PhD she will focus on the interaction of the tumour microenvironment cancer associated fibroblasts with cancer stem cells using 3D in vitro models.
